Jackson agrees to pay the debt that his adopted son, Andrew Jackson Jr., owes on furniture that he had purchased two years earlier. Jackson adopted his son as an infant from his wife's brother and sister-in-law, Severn and Elizabeth Rucker. His high hopes for Andrew Jackson Jr. were never realized, and Jackson spent much of his last decade paying off debts for his son, as in this letter.

Attached to booklet which also contains an engraving of Madison by H.B. Hall and Sons in New York.

Contains the anonymous "Address to the Officers of the Army" calling the army's general officers to a meeting (a mutinous situation) (pp. 1-12), Washington's orders of 11 March 1783 calling officers to a meeting of his own (15-24; including Washington's letter to the president of Congress after the meeting), the officer's meeting on 15 March, with Washington's address (25-41), and concluding with the officers' resolves (41-47). The Governor of New York notes that he ordered munitions stored near Oswego and orders Hopper to send muskets, cartridges, and powder from those stores to use to defend Oswego, New York, if attacked. Oswego was attacked and captured by the British on 6 May 1814. Tompkins later became vice president.

This early printing shows the national attention Lincoln received for the speech of June 16, despite his loss to Douglas. Greeley endorses the speech in an editorial on page 4.

A reciept acknowledging the final payment for land ceded by the Six Nations at the Treaty of Fort Stanwix. With the loss of these lands the Six Nations eventually dispersed: the Mohawk and Cayuga to Canada, the Oneida to Wisconsin, while the Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora stayed in upstate New York.
