Graham was in New York "to attend the business of the supreme court." Taking the opportunity to forward the news of new Colonial Governor Hamilton's arrival in New York, Graham also writes of the troubles in New England: "Accordingly they are very apprehensive of an Indian warr in N England and have raised men which they have sent to the east ward for their security it is Conceived that our Indians are in Concert with them but that is a point must be tenderly managed." William writes in order to forward news of the good health of young Robert Livingston. William describes a fire which destroyed the homes of 200 Edinburgh families two months previous, as well as Robert's progress in school ("he is threw the 5 declinations and comparisons he hath not a good memorie but a very good capacatie and understanding") and his hearing of the news that Margaret Livingston was involved with Samuel Vetch, a pairing William decries only if Robert has not granted his blessing. William completes his letter with news of his son James' return from sea after an arduous…

Riggs writes discussing the trial of Captain William Kidd. According to Riggs, Kidd was being held at Bristol, and would be held until the next session of Parliament, the soonest time possible for Kidd to be tried or pardoned. Also, Riggs writes of the war between Sweden and Denmark, stating that it was believed that Holland would join Sweden, and that the city of Riga was being besieged by the King of Holland and his army. Weemes writes discussing the key issue of Europe: the succession of the Spanish throne. With the death of the King of Spain, it is rumored that the throne would pass to the Dauphin of France.
