Also signed by Charles Parson, William Burch, Henry Hudson, and one other ("J. Wm. [illegible]"), all at the Customs House in Boston. Appointed by "the Commissioners for managing & causing to be levied his Majesties Customs and other Duties in America." Also outlines the duties of Irving's new position. A note on the verso signed by Fra. Bernard dated 15 April 1768 confirms that Irving took the oath of office. Irving was later a controversial figure involved in investigating the Boston Tea Party.
