The index of letters copied on the inside front cover indicates a much longer list of correspondence [and a longer journey] than is presently contained in the copy book. Index includes 39 letters dating 1878/08/02-1878/12/05. Also, includes one loose sheet of paper reading: "Kirkwood's book on Filtration contains descriptions of the following water works (Contents)".
