Madison regrets informing Lafayette that he cannot give him an answer on the loan he requested. He remarks "There is no country where money exists at all that is so unproductive of lenders as this is." States that he hopes Lafayette will have more luck in Europe. Discusses some issues involving the location of Lafayette's land. Letter addressed to General Fayette.
