The men signing are James Tileston, William Wyen, W. Scallon and Samuel Newhall. Also named in the document as being included in these accounts are Moses Little and Nathaneal Tracy. Lieutenant Sampson sends Major Lemuel Trescott, both of the 7th Massachusetts Regiment, charging Lieutenant Freeman with "breaking his arrest by wearing or appearing in publick Company with a Sword or Hanger" and Ensign Sawyer with "endeavoring in an Underhanded Manner to draw me from my Quarters in order to assault & abuse me" and "kicking & abusing me in Capt. Allens Quarters when requested to attend there by Capt. Allen."

Title: [Summary of troops and equipment surrendered to General Horatio Gates by General John Burgoyne]

An unknown person compiled statistics relative to Burgoyne's surrender to Gates after the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. The scrap of paper is dated in October 1781. Breaks down nationality of the captured soldiers, number of sick and wounded, types and number of artillery and small arms captured, etc. Also written on the sheet is a receipt for Daniel Epir to receive payment from Samuel Emory. On verso, in what appears to be an unrelated to the summary of captured troops, is a partial list of payments due to soldiers. They could be troops under Gates's command.

One man, John Walter Fletcher, is being sent to Newport, the other, Job Halsey, was sent to the County Committee for a further investigation. Since Williams is on this committee, explains to him the details of the first examination of the prisoner. Letter written in a secretarial hand, by Major General Heath's secretary Seth Loring, and signed by Heath. A request for payment of a soldier's wages sent to Ebenezer Hancock, Deputy Paymaster General of U.S. forces. John Black, a soldier in Captain Turner's company in Colonel Bradford's regiment was to receive "Twentysix Dollars & two thirds in full of four Months pay." Black was unable to withdraw his pay with the regiment because he was confined to the hospital. Note on verso, signed by John Black, states he received the money.

Written by Major General Ward as commander of the Eastern Department (he was succeeded by Major General William Heath in March 1777) to Ebenezer Hancock as Deputy Paymaster General of U.S. forces. Order to pay Thomas Urann, Director of the Carpenter, forty six pounds and ten shilling, equal to 155 dollars, which was October's pay for him and the carpenters under him. On verso is breakdown of the pay for the carpenters. Urann made 6 pounds as foreman and the 9 "artificers" under him made 4 pounds 10 shillings each. Countersigned to by Thomas Urann that he received the money.

Simon had failed to reimburse Nicholas Moorey 35 shillings for care he rendered to Simon when Simon was sick. Written in the margin of the court order: "Jonah Simon Indian being called three times after eleven of the clock and not appearing, judgment was entered up against him upon default [illegible] payment of 35 s. money & cost of court." Moody seems to be a teacher writing a reassuring letter to Waite, a resident of Watertown, Massachusetts, who sent his son to Moody's school. Mentions that his son is in good health and high spirits. Says he has a good sense of humor, but that he would rather confine himself with his books than socialize. Hopes the son will live up to his father's expectations. Says he will do everything he can for the boy. He would like Waite to send his son a copy of "Boyers French Dictionary." Sends compliments to General Preble, saying Preble's son is doing well.
