Does not know, now, whether there will be a sufficient load to ship. Is sending Mr. [possibly John] Gleason to determine this. Asks Ulmer to make sure that only "perfectly formed spars" make it on board the ship, and asks him to oversee the endeavor.

Knox believes that Francis must change his behavior sincerely, but as for now he had "no moral sense: wrong and right are the same to him." Knox also wants to make sure that his surveyors are not interrupted as they were "on 18 July last."

Requests eight muskets and says he will begin surveying once again.
