One engraving entitled "Wouski" dated January 23, 1788. Features a man and a woman on a hammock in what looks like a ships hold. Below them is a coil of rope, a small barrel labeled Jamaica Rum, and a monogramed trunk. The woman is black and the man is white. On the bottom of the engraving it reads, "Far be the noise Of Kings & Crowns from us whose gentle souls Our kinder fates have steerd another way. Free as the forest birds well pair together Without remembering who our fathers were And in soft murmurs interchange our souls."

It is made evident that he is not paying attention to his job cutting the wick on the candle as he is about to cut into the candle. On the rear of the engraving are two fashion prints from France.

A manumission notice that Barthelemy Campanel plans to emancipate Hanna an enslaved woman of about 60 years of age. The notice states that if anyone has an objection to this manumission they are to file the objection with the Parish Court within 40 days of the notice being posted. On the back of the notice is a statement by the parish court that no objection has been made and as a result the seal of the court has been affixed.

He tells Mary Rose that the school for Gunnery is difficult, and, like everywhere else, they teach it differently. William also tells Mary Rose that he took out some insurance and was sending the forms for her to keep until he gets the policy information. He also says that he has to stop by the orderly rooms to make out a will. At the end of the letter he asks. "How is junior coming along?" William signs the letter as "Tex."
