Moe and Jack sat down and tried to teach themselves French with the grammar book they got, but Moe does not think he will ever acquire a French accent.

Moe writes that it was very cold last night. He says the fellows are still shook up over Ingrid Bergman. He also mentioned that the company was given a lecture, and that he is really glad she has a friend in Ethel.

Moe describes his new accommodations, and talks about which items he needs and doesn't need like cigarettes, candy and toiletries. He says he is glad Sylvia is getting a full night's sleep.

Moe reports that he went to the G.I show, and went to the movies the next night. He wonders how all the people they know are in the army are doing.

Moe writes that Alvin is in the process of coming overseas. He hopes that Alvin will go to France and then they can meet up.

Moe went Christmas shopping with another soldier. He received a package but was disappointed it contained no cigarettes. He also received a letter from Bess, and is glad she approves of him as Sylvia's husband.

Moe reports that he received a package containing fish from Sylvia. He asks her to enclose some cigarettes in one of the Christmas bundles. He mentions that they had a Chanukah party last night.

Moe found the carton of cigarettes that Marge sent. He is glad Sylvia's parents have gotten to Florida. He hopes her Dad will get better there, and that Sylvia can finally relax.

Moe recalled one Christmas with Alfred and Alice, and thinks of Christmas at home versus Christmas in the army. He also says he thinks the war will be prolonged.

Moe says he has been guarding German prisoners for the past three days, and has a hard time believing that they have hurt people. He describes them as meek as lambs. But at the same time he has no sympathy for them.

Moe wishes he could spend New Year's Eve with Sylvia and their friends. He also remembered that Alfred and Alice's anniversary was a couple of days ago. He says that last New Year's Eve he went out with Jack but this time he can't.

Moe says the news from the front continues to show a reduction in the German bulge. He liked Sylvia's reproduction of their living room in one of her letters, and thanks her for the money she sent.
