The meetings were presided over by Salem Towne "in pursuance of a Resolve of the General Court." Minutes were taken by Samuel E. Dutton, who included several comments of his own throughout.

Wait wonders if he could help Chase in "procuring a few great names," such as President [John] Adams and Governor [Caleb] Strong, in addition to Knox himself (perhaps for interviews for the book). Adds that Wait and a Mr. Hopkins are publishing the book with Chase, and if it is successful, there may be more books to be published, and Wait will be able to overcome financial hardship.
