Signed by "Joseph Peirce & Son." Contains three notes. The first informs Knox what goods are being shipped to him on board Captain Keller's vessel. The second asks Knox to tell the Duc de Liancourt that letters of his were sent. The third tells Knox that Peirce expects that his son is on his way home, which is why he has not written to him. However, if his son is not on his way home, and Knox should see him, asks that Knox tell him the Peirce family is all well and looking forward to seeing him.

Discusses the lumber trade, particularly referring to a Mr. Pendleton, who apparently is taking wood from Knox's island without permission. Also mentions an arrangement with Captain [Thomas] Vose involving the purchase of articles to trade in the West Indies and Europe. Pemberton laments the bad behavior of "Master Waldo" [Flucker].

Knox received letters of the 12 and 13 of August 1799 "by Kirkpatrick." Knox cannot pay Peirce the sum he requested because he says people are late paying him (Knox) and does not have the money.

Knox writes, "I have the goodness to deliver Mr. John Davis the deed of relinquishment to the State of other lands, and receive from him the deed of Mr. Thomas Davis to me in behalf of the State." Knox also sends his wife's signature on a paper Peirce had sent to him. Writing is very faded and the paper is very thin.
