Written in the hand of Samuel Shaw, Knox's aide-de-camp, and signed by Shaw for Knox. Advises Faesch that Captain [William] Stevens will soon be arriving with a small party to reproof shells, and will be bringing "a section of a French 8 inch shell, with an order from the Secretary at War to cast three thousand of that construction."
