Thomas Dongan reprimands the Governor of Canada for inviting Indians of the 5 Nations to Cadarachqui in Canada, and warns the Governor not to allow his Christian Indians across the border to lure the 5 Nations away. P.2 and 3 contain a proposition from Dongan to the 5 Nations, dated 14 July 1687, at Schenechtady. In the proposition, Dongan assures the Indians that he has only corresponded with the Governor of Canada on their behalf, and also promises the 5 Nations any supplies or ammunitions they may need during their conflict with the French. Baron explains that the Senecas are stationed at the head of the James River, and have attacked some neighboring English and Indian settlements, where they plundered houses and carried off Indians. He then informs Lord Effingham that in order to secure the surrounding counties, the Council granted them commissions to build up their militias, which he hopes meets with the Lord's approval. He then describes when the Senecas first heard of the French designs for war, and what they saw when they sent spies out to investigate the fortifications erected by the French. The Sachem also gives an account of how the first shots were fired, and how the conflict progressed from that point. Docketed on verso.

Thomas Dongan writes that he will convey news of the French invasion of English territory to the King, but wishes first to settle upon a few issues with the 5 Nations. He asks if they in any way provoked the French, and notes that they were warned not to make peace or war with the French without his permission. Dongan then recommends a number of security measrues to be followed by the 5 Nations, and warns them to stay out of Virginia if they desire the protection of the British. Docketed on verso.

The document states that Salomon Frederickse and Johannes Onderkerk are bound to the people and city of Albany for the sum of 50 pounds. It then goes on to explain that the two men have a pass from the Governor to trade with the Indians of Ottowa, and if they decide not to trade with the Indians of the 5 Nations for peltry, then the current financial obligation will be declared void. Frederickse and Onderkerk signed with their marks.

. . . Representatives of the five Nations of the Sinnias in the Fort att New York" The Governor of Virginia reprimands the 5 Nations for breaking their covenant and committing crimes in Virginia. He explains that Governor Dongan has convinced him to forgo declaring war upon them, but notes that he expects satisfaction upon conclusion of the war with the French. In their response, the 5 Nations thank Lord Effingham for his forgiveness, and promise to rectify the situation.
