Attempts to demonstrate that Clymer is a fit representative for the Democratic party in the Pennsylvania gubernatorial election. Notes that Clymer is "foremost in denunciation of the Government, and strenuous in his opposition to every measure calculated to suppress rebellion."

Prints correspondence between Lincoln and Erastus Corning in relation to a Democratic meeting held at Albany, New York 16 May 1863, called to protest the arrest and expulsion of Vallandigham based on the freedom of speech. Corning presided over the meeting. Includes the resolutions adopted at that meeting, and Lincoln's reply to Corning on 12 June 1863. Printed by King & Baird Printers. Same pamphlet as GLC 1265.19.

Calhoun discloses the correspondence in an effort to rectify, what he believes to be, politically motivated misrepresentations of his conduct in regard to "the Seminole question."
