Moe went to town with Jack, drank brandy and watched a couple of Frenchmen playing cards. He writes in response to Sylvia's request for culture notes. Moe reports that some of the soldiers try to speak to girls on the street, but that in respectable circles a girl does not go out with a boy alone unless marriage is imminent. Jack finally received the French dictionary he asked for.
