This was the response of United States Air Force to the Soviet blockage of Berlin's western-zoned air and land traffic areas in June 1948. U.S. and Royal Air Forces delivered in "less than 11 months thet Airlift brought 1 1/2 million tons of supplies," which forced the Soviet union to lift the ban.
