Knox, Henry, 1750-1806
Autograph letter signed
Title: to Jeremiah Wadsworth
Encloses five accounts and asks Wadsworth to sign them, noting that his signature is necessary for the accounts' settlement. Asks him to return all warrants that will not be paid before December 15, as Knox wishes to close his accounts with the treasury before that date. Discusses the French Revolution: "What an uproar in France! The instability of human affairs has never been displayed in stronger colors! The clouds and darkness hang on the issue." Mentions the Marquis de Lafayette. Adds that he is sorry to hear that Wadsworth and his children have the influenza.
