The retained copy book record of army officers' letters and telegraphs concerning the affairs of the Twentieth Infantry. Discusses the removal of the Winnebago tribe of Indians, which is being hampered by white men who trade with the tribe, specifically a lawyer named Lee. To ease the removal the army has captured Indians in a series of raids, including a chief named Big Hawk and seventy three of his men. Alfred Marland, Justice of the Peace, attests to Sarsons' taking of the oaths of allegience on 23 May 1865. With a red seal intact. Printed state seal on top section. Red pen with writing: "Duplicate" written across Gilmore and Tenney's signatures. Originally folded into eighths.

Also discusses other issues such as the elimination of land monopoly and opposition to income tax. The pagination is a continuation of a previous issue. Number of pages reflects numbered pages, not the number of physical pages.

Newspaper clipping announcing the death of W.J. Ferguson, the last living actor to have witnessed the assasination of President Lincoln. Ferguson played the part of Lietenant Vernon in "Our American Cousin." The actor and Laura Keene were in the wings when Booth shot the president. Ferguson always insisted that Booth never shouted "sic semper tyrannis!"
