Moe received a letter from Bess in which she told him she was in the country recuperating from an illness he was previously unaware of. He believes that Alvin has matured in the army having experienced things he never would have as a civilian.

Moe doesn't understand why the mail is so slow getting to Sylvia when it arrives on time to him. He ponders where he will go that evening, and discusses the black market.

Moe went to see a film about a dog, he could barely tolerate it. He also says one of the fellows, Irwin Levin, went to Paris for a week to take a class and was full of stories.

Moe just received word that he will be going to Glasgow, Scotland to take some courses.

Moe describes the trip to Luxembourg. He says the people are a mixture of French, German and a little bit of Celtic.

Moe says he finally saw a good movie. He writes that the service forces are the ones the army seems most concerned about. He also says that combat men will all be redeployed via the states and so forth.

Moe went to the movies with Abe and Jack, they then had ice cream and cokes. He says he sympathizes with Sylvia on the slowness of the mail, and congratulates her on her new pen.

Moe and the boys wandered around trying to find something to do but kept meeting with disappointment. They went back to the barracks to find Abe and Sam had opened a bottle of gin.

Moe thanks Sylvia for the picture of Mad and Ben and Daniel. He also reacts to the news of Ben selling his car, and asks Sylvia to have Alvin take some pictures of her to send to him.

Moe watched a training film on the Chinese-Japanese conflict. He says he ended up going to the dance after all, and he says the boys drank a lot that evening. He also inquires after Sylvia's father.

Moe says he is tired of seeing bad movies. He mentions that he is sad that Jack is being transferred out of the company. he also received a letter from Jimmie who is still in Italy.

Moe said he was unable to go to Glasgow after all. He attended the circus near the champagne factory, and writes that Sylvia should have learned sewing sooner.

Moe writes that Sam Passes got a transfer out of the outfit into Germany. He and the boys plan to have a "devilish" celebration since both Sam and Jack are leaving.

Moe saw "Arsenic and Old Lace," and played ping pong. He writes that Sam Finestone is taking advantage of the G.I Bill and is taking classes at the New York School.

Moe went out with the boys. They found a cafe and ate and drank. Afterwards they went to a park where a lieutenant stopped by and struck up a conversation.

Moe went out with Marty and Jack again. Otherwise he did not do much. had a few cakes, and then sat and talked, enjoying the weather.

Moe reports that the company made a little move. There are better accommodations here, better than any they've had so far. He says he has loved Sylvia's recent letters as they really made him feel better.
