Envies the wives of generals able to travel with their husbands: "happy Mrs. Washington happy Mrs Gates in short I do not recollect an instance like my own- Mrs. Greens you will say is similar, but it is not Mrs G and myself were not cast in one mould." Wishes to visit Henry (at that time in Morristown, New Jersey) declaring "Boston is called a place of danger." Discusses the health of their children.

Also mentions Henry's share in the Newbury Privateer as demanded by Colonel Jackson (possibly Henry Jackson). Still awaits Henry's reply regarding his intentions to join the army.

Colonel Jackson writes "by way of Peekskill" [New York]. Reports that a Massachusetts state cruiser has taken two British transport ships bound for New York with Hessians on board. Of the Hessians, writes "it is said they show'd the greatest joy when our people board'd the Ship." Refers to another cruiser bound for Quebec with dry goods and blankets. Writes, "I wish to know if it would be agreeable to the generall that I may Inlist some of [the Hessians] in my Regt."

"[T]he Hoosiers are getting quite an envious Reputation in the army, even among Regulars, the fact is, they have to much Reputation now, for there own good. So much fame as fighting men, only Serves to put them in the greater danger."
