Knox, Commander at West Point, confirms receipt of a letter from Washington in which Washington ordered "a suspension of the troops and stores destined to the Western posts." Reports that there are French refugees in the vicinity of West Point under the direction of a Major Merlet, "who have drawn about one hundred rations to day for men women and children." Relates that Major [Caleb] Gibbs and the Second Massachusetts Regiment will arrive at West Point the same day this letter is written (Gibbs had traveled with his detachment to Philadelphia). Discusses illness among soldiers in the West Point vicinity: "The troops having been uncommonly sickly for this place, and a malignant putrid fever being among their disorders, I have fixed upon the barrack at Constitution Island as an hospital..." Includes copies of three letters. The first, dated September 1783, is from Lieutenant Colonel Antill to Knox. In the letter, Antill asks Knox to issue provisions to five Canadian refugees. The second letter, undated, is from Knox to an unspecified recipient. In the letter, Knox attests that the Commander in Chief (George Washington) specified that the family of Colonel Antill should draw provisions. The final letter, dated 14 September 1783 is from Knox to Antill. In the letter, Knox informs Antill he has signed the order [for provisions] and will submit the order to the Minister of War…

Large chart describing amounts of clothing (hats, coats, vests, woolen breeches, linen breeches, leather breeches, shirts, socks, overalls, stockings, shoes, and blankets) distributed to various units in the artillery. Note on page two says the shipment was sent by public agents from Boston, Massachusetts to Fishkill, New York. From there part of it was sent to White Plains, New York under the control of Captain Lillie, the brigade quartermaster. Copy of a receipt for clothing issued to General Knox from 1780-1783. Original was submitted by David Brooks, the assistant clothier general. This copy was created by Major Samuel Shaw, an aide-de-camp to General Knox, who also signed this document. A total of $140.60 worth of clothing is accounted for, which includes boots, blankets, roughly 50 yards of cloth, and his own miscellaneous receipts.

List of troops mustered in the Northern Army in August 1783. The list is divided between infantry and artillery and subdivided by rank. In the infantry there were 159 officers, 430 non-commissioned officers, and 2,864 privates. In the artillery there were 35 officers, 52 non-commissioned officers, and 245 privates. Signed by Major Barber, who was a member of General Horatio Gates's staff.

Also requests an account of the 300 pairs of shoes that were delivered for the detachment of troops marching to Philadelphia under General Robert Howe.
