Comments on aging and the loss of their husbands. Reflects on the end of life and hopes it will be peaceful. Based on the context of the letter, it appears to have been sent to Ann Maitland. Letter is signed Leah.

Marked "copy." Relates the experiences of George Ulmer, one of the Justices assigned to keep the peace in Ducktrap, Maine, on 4 July 1805. Received a report that five hundred armed men were assembled in the Davistown area to march to Castine and rescue two prisoners. Discusses his attempts to gather information about the revolt, and the people he found involved. Also relates threats against his life for being a spy.
