Appears to be in William Knox's hand. William Knox paid the contractor Thomas Clement £1.19.6 for boards, screws, hooks, clasps, and labor. Clement signed the bottom noting he received full payment.

Written in Knox's hand. List of expenses for the recruiting service. Goods and services include clothing, transportation, bounties, rations, medicine and pay to recruiters. Tens of thousands of dollars was allocated and spent. Page 4 has a reference to the "Indian department." Line items for the "Creek" and Cherokee" add up to $8,000 and a line item for "Indians N West Ohio" is $10,000.

Title: [Bill for repairs made to Henry Knox's chaise]

Noted that Henry Knox paid Thomas Bumstead in full for work on his chaise. Total cost was £22.12.2. Payments were for chains, springs, rivets, seats, lace, buckles, a head rail, and labor for repairs. The work was done March-September 1777, but it seems that Bumstead signed the document on 16 July 1778.

Mentions that pay is current up to 31 March, although no year is given. Pay was noted as $55,000. Some other expenses include: $55,000 toward bounties, $35,000 to the Quartermaster's Department, $4,000 to the Hospital Department, and $22,000 to the Indian Department. Notes expenses for rations as well. A total of $254,550 was noted at the end of the account. Undated.

Notes the number of troops stationed in Ohio, Florida, the North Carolina frontier, Georgia. Troop totals add up to 1,680. Lists reasons for the proposed troop augmentation. These reasons include: to awe the Wabash and Creek Indians, to draw "a line of posts around them [the Creeks]," and to protect frontier settlements. Writes on "The situation, Temper, and views of the frontier people to be stated - and the general policy considered of protecting and regulating them - or of suffering them to protect themselves and of the immediate and ultimate consequences of such a measure."
