Coddaire writes that he is in England probably on leave and he went to the seaside yesterday, and then went to a tea room for tea and cakes. He says that they created a furor on the bus ride as they handed out choclate to the kids and were nearly mobbed. He also mentions that he got two packages from her with chocolate and plum pudding. Coddaire also mentions going to the movies, and that he has been running movies in one of the classrooms. He mentions Eddie Roe who has a job in Washington. Title: Freedom to Serve: Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Forces: A Report by the President's Committee

Final report of President Truman's Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services. The committee was established by Executive Order 9981, on July 26, 1948. Its purpose was to recommend revisions of military regulations in order to implement the government's policy of equality of treatment and opportunity for all members of the armed forces, regardless of race, color, religion or national origins. The committee, chaired by Charles Fahy, terminated upon submission of its final report on May 22, 1950. The final report was entitled Freedom to Serve.

Title: to Alexander Hamilton

Angelica sends a picture of herself to Hamilton and asks his opinion. She complains that he hasn't written since August but that she forgives him as she knows he is busy. She sends her love to Alexander, her sister and the family and asks Hamilton to tell Alexander Jr. that he is a great favorite and that her daughter Betsey says she would marry him if she could. She ends the letter with a mention of the French and that they, "cannot form their government so readily as we did ours, they mean to petition General Washington to send them a Legislator." First Edition, later edition. Presented by C.G. Memminger, a South Carolina legislator and Confederate government official, as the report of the committee to draw up the Confederate declaration of independence.

Published by John P. Jewett and Company. In the preface, Griffiths writes, "The proceeds of the sale of 'Autographs for Freedom,' will be devoted to the dissemination of light and truth on the subject of slavery throughout the country." Griffiths writes on behalf of the Rochester Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society. Testimonies are followed by lithographed signatures. Includes the signatures of William H. Seward, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Lewis Tappan, Horace Greeley, and Charles Sumner, among others. Contains "The Heroic Slave," by Frederick Douglass.
