Title: Diary of Sergeant in Company E, 11th New York Cavalry
A member of the cavalry unit known as "Scott's nine hundred." Millet kept as a record for his family in case he did not survive. It details his activities in Virginia and Maryland before, during and after the Gettysburg campaign. It contains a detailed account of the evacuation of Harpers Ferry and the pursuit of J.E.B. Stuart's cavalry. There are also occasional descriptions of encounters with civilians, North and South. Begins June 1863. Rebound in paper, boxed with original cover.
