Congress considered holding further investigations, but decided against it, as they "were of opinion that it would have a very improper affect to subject the invalids to any further investigations." Says the promised acres that were Flint's payment for his help in the purchase of the 2 million acres has been secured in the agreements and covenants with William Bingham. Any further information will be given by Bingham. Says he is too unwell to write in detail, but "the last contract is so circumstanced that it must be returned by us." Says Henry Jackson is going to New York and is empowered to handle Flint's situation.

The third estimate was tolerably accurate of those items it comprehended, but he has not had enough time to fully understand it. Noted as copied on 5 December 1857.
