It appears as if the top of the letter may have been cut off as the top of the first line is missing. Written on the back of the letter in pencil is "Higgins House Racine." Gertrude is referred to as Getty in this letter.

A scientific and experimental notebook of Alexander Catlin Twining. Twining's notebook contained notes, tables, graphs, diagrams, of observations he made and experiments he conducted. Experimental topics include, evaporation, condensation, velocity, friction, resistance, freezing temperature, and gravity. The dates assigned are approximate because Twining's entries are not in sequential order. In numbering his pages, a single sheet front and back constitutes one page. In accordance with this, the page numbers written in the notebook go from 0 to 78. Pages 63 to 73 are written upsidedown.…
