Colonel Scammon of the 23rd Ohio writes the Assistant Adjutant General in Charleston, West Virginia to inform that some prisoners were sent to Columbus before receiving orders that they should go to Wheeling. Has telegraphed to correct this. Reports that a second detachment of prisoners has been sent to Wheeling as directed. Year inferred from Scammon's rank as Colonel. Signed with initials. On verso is the header for another letter "Head Qrs. 3d Prov. Brigade, Fayetteville, Va, 1862."
