The sheath is in a light brown leather case with a snap closure around the handle. The sheath has a belt loop. Askin, T., C.Q. M, U.S.N. is written in black on the front. Askin, T. B. H., C. Q. M. is also written across the back of the sheath.

A cheifly pictoral record of the officers and men who served on the U.S.S. Texas during World War II. On the last page is a hand written note by Thomas Barwiss Hagstoz Askin, Jr. stating that the U.S.S. Texas was towed by the U.S.S. Mosopelea and the U.S.S. Paiute to San Jacinto, Texas to be enshrined as a state memorial. Accompanying each picture is a brief description of the event ocuring at the time of the photograph.

A document containing instructions for polling officals in Greenwood and Itta Bena, Mississippi on how to handle unregistered African American applicants at polling stations. Reciting Section 3114, Miss. Code 1942, calls on polling officials to prevent the disruption of other voters and to "be careful to follow the law," to prevent the success of any law suits that may be brought against them by the Attorney General of the United States. A chromolithographic poster depicting African American soldiers fighting in World War I. In the poster an American bombers are flying overhead and an American soldier is boyoneting an enemy soldier. Featured prominently in towards the middle of the poster is a large American flag and in the background is a smaller American flag flanked by British and Italian flags. This poster is dated circa 1919.
