Reports that Colonel Robert Harrison will wait for the Board to send a supply of musket ammunition for the Southern Army commanded by General Nathanael Greene. Explains that the frequent activity has depleted stores and the free navigation of the Chesapeake Bay provides an opportunity for delivery. Asks that stores from Williamsburg, Virginia also be forwarded. Reports that they invested Yorktown on 28 September 1781 and that General Cornwallis' evacuated his outer works the following day. The Continental Army hopes to open its batteries in three days.

Reports that the British "suffered much more severely in the Action off Cape Henry than you seem to have expected," referring to the Second Battle of the Virginia Capes. Mentions the actions of several naval vessels. Reports that British troops have landed on Staten Island and impressed many wagons. There are rumors of the British coming to burn Philadelphia and the militia is preparing. The remainder of the Pennsylvania line is in Philadelphia and plans to march 600 men…

Samuel Hodgdon was the commissary general of military stores appointed by the Board. Knox needed the ordnance for the siege of Yorktown. Written in a clerical hand. A note at the end by Carrington cites the taking of the British forces' left and right redoubts by Lafayette and French forces.

Also signed by Richard Frothingham. Lists quantities of ordnance on hand during the siege of Yorktown. The list was composed by Frothingham, a Deputy and Principal Field Commissary of Military Stores in Knox's artillery train. It was gone over by Knox, who placed symbols next to items indicating that they were to either be shipped to Philadelphia or "remain with Mr. [Thomas] Jones in Virginia."

Lists quantities of various types of ordnance remaining after the siege of Yorktown including ordnance "taken from the English." Also gives a proposed breakdown between stores held by Colonel Edward Carrington, the state of Virginia, and Philadelphia. A note on the final page indicates that 1,000 arms and accoutrements and 250,000 musket cartridges are to be sent by Carrington to Nathanael Greene, and some to North Carolina. The rest of the ordnance will be deposited at Richmond, Virginia. Henry Knox's copy.

Chart enumerating supplies of musical instruments and their quality held by various regiments under General William Heath. A note at the bottom indicates that "Fifes are Exceedingly wanted." Hiwell was a first Lieutenant in a Massachusetts Artillery regiment. Heath commanded Highlands Department on the east side of the lower Hudson River. Written in "Continental Village." Lists quantities of supplies being sent to Head of Elk, Maryland. Clerical copy written by Samuel Shaw from a Park of Artillery. A note at the bottom from Colonel Edward Carrington, written in Samuel Shaw's hand, on 3 November 1781 indicates that he received from Knox one spirit level and one brass quadrant for the Southern Army's use. The siege of Yorktown had recently ended. In Samuel Shaw's hand, and signed by him for Knox.

Refers to an enclosure of Knox's instructions regarding stores left in Virginia for use by the Southern Department, and the "plan of Deposit directed at Richmond or Westham." They will be furnished with fatigue men from the Continental troops, and once those troops have left, he has arranged for local militia men to be posted there. He has situated Capt. Singleton, arrange to deposit the stores in Westham or Richmond, but he had to go on to meet General Arthur St. Clair's Division. Declares that the arrangements will be left to Singleton at least until Col. Harrison arrives from Williamsburg to help. Has enclosed a copy of General Knox's instructions to follow as best he can, and expects him to meet with the Executive when he arrives.
