Refers to Conrad's letter asking if there is any new legislation before the session comes to a close. Discusses the efforts being made to build iron plated vessels for the Confederacy in Europe and estimates its cost at 2 million dollars. Discusses increasing price of iron and coal and decreasing production of iron within the Confederacy. States it is due to producer's apprehension that foreign iron will be introduced when the war is over at low rates.
