Powell informs Waite of the General Court decision to undertake the Penobscot Expedition. Orders were issued to detach 1500 men from the militia of Massachusetts, 100 artillery men, and a number of vessels to Penobscot Bay to dislodge the British stationed there. Reports that orders were given for provisions, ammunition, and firearms to be sent. The council also requested the assistance of the state of New Hampshire. Now he "doth...pitch for two acres and eight rod...adjoining to his own home." Also a note about Nathan Seeles, "casting of his Land South of Capt Robert Harvard's Land." On reverse are Continental dollar amounts and other calculations and a date of 1 September 1777. Dated 1 September 1777 - January 1, 1780.

Postscript states hard bread is preferred over flour. Olney was Lieutenant Colonel of Rhode Island recruits.

Title: [Poem honoring Colonel Moses Parker of Chelmsford]

Poem in 22 stanzas honoring Colonel Moses Parker, killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, 17 June 1775. First stanza says: "Come all who have skill and Lament / and let your hearts and eyes have vent / While you to memory do call / The Valient Colonel Parkers fall." Goes on to speak of Parker as a hero because of his courage and valiant actions. Says he fought in the French and Indian War before dying in the American Revolution after being wounded in the thigh. Hopes Parker will be a role model for other soldiers.
