Lieutenant Bliss reports to Colonel Bedel on enlistment, including activities regarding recruiting a minor and obtaining the release of a soldier from jail who was being held for a debt. On the topic of the laws that permit such imprisonment, he is "somewhat loquacious" because of his "opinion that Legislative aid is necessary, not only for the salvation of our 'little band,' but for the protection of the citizens of New Hampshire." Indicates he is sending a series of New York newspapers that contain "an address of great public Interest from the minority in Congress to their constituents, and a very important act...on...Trade and...Communications between United States & Great Britain." The act referred to was possibly a bill that doubled customs duties, which was passed on July 1, 1812, shortly after the War of 1812 began. The minority in congress was against the war. Viscount Castlereagh was the British foreign secretary. The author's name is illegible.

Letter written by Lord Barrington to Lord Sydney as British Home Secretary, an office he held from 1783-1789. Barrington is enclosing a letter that solicits Sydney's appointment of a Mr. Akers as Chief Justice of the island of St. Vincents (see GLC01450.724.02 for the enclosed letter). Barrington said he wrote Mr. Colton, a friend who had asked Barrington to use his influence with Sydney, saying that he does not solicit or recommend for posts, but that he would forward his letter to Lord Sydney, which he does here.

Portrays an engagement between the ships La Blanche and La Pare. Shows sailors from both sides engaged in battle and falling into the water. Artist's name is obscured, possibly due to water damage. Other writing on the document is also lost due to water damage. Dates are inferred from information pertaining to two British ships named Blanche; one was built in 1786 and wrecked in 1799, and the other was created in 1800 and captured by the French in 1805.

Belonged to Joshua Pico, a liquor merchant from Boston. Wooden chest with two handles, metal edges, and a lock on the lid. The key is missing so the lock is stuffed with paper to prevent locking. Interior has separated compartments for six large glass liquor bottles with glass toppers, six smaller bottles with glass toppers, and a removable section with two tumblers, two small liquor glasses, and a shot glass.
