Mentions the names of some participating commanders, including Hooker, Winfield Scott Hancock, and Darius Nash Couch. Written in Headquarters Second Army Corps stationery.

Says that Clay is "making himself ridiculous," and is weakly supported, while Jackson, "the old hero," is doing well.

Feels it is possible that Congress will enact a workable monetary policy: "what is really needed, next to the resumption of specie payments, is a currency, that will at all times adapt itself to the business wants of the country." Survey'd by Order of Lieut[enan]t Gen[era]l Knyphansen." Shows Fort Washington in northern Manhattan. Published "as the Act directs" in London on March 1, 1777, by permission of the Comissioners of Trade and Plantations. Hudson River and troop movements are hand colored. Kenneth Nebenzahl's "Battle Plans of the American Revolution" page 116 notes two later states.
