Appears Knox delivered the warrant to Richard Platt and received a certificate for $1000 from Platt signed by Winthrop Sargent. Note at bottom of the document states "Sworn before Major Wheaton Justice Peace 22 Aug', 1801." Docket notes the affidavit was written from Thomaston, Maine.

Based on the content of the letter it is possible the addressor is Henry Knox, however, the letter is not in Henry Knox's handwriting. Docket notes the letter was written to George Ulmer.

The indenture appears to be for two tracts of land in Hampden, Maine sold to Winthrop by Knox, Lincoln, and Jackson. Indenture includes the boundaries of the land, terms of the agreement, and the amounts to be paid.

Letter is likely referring to Mr. Joseph Jones or Mr. Benjamin Bartlett's barn that was burnt down by the settlers in retaliation of Knox's surveying. See George Ulmer's letter to Henry Knox informing him about the fire (GLC02437.07605). Written on verso of a printed document: "Know all men by these presents..."

Appears Whitney was trying to find out the whereabouts of the surveyors from Cates who refused to tell him. On the last page there is also a list of names of the residents of Jackson, Maine. Docket suggests letter is written to Joseph Jones. Date was written at a later date in pen.
