The total cost or expense comes to £20.3.6 1/2. Docket might be unrelated. It has a list of names with what appears to be payment amounts next to each. This amounts to £181.9.4.

Title: An inventory of cannon &c brought from Ticonderoga

Evidently a working document, with entries added at various times; possibly part of a longer journal. The first page comprises a detailed inventory of 16 mortars and howitzers, and 43 cannon, with a total weight of 119,900 pounds, "brought from Ticonderoga December 10th 1775." Information includes composition (iron or brass), bore size and weight. Subsequent annotations amend figures and cite which armaments have been "Carr[ie]d." Written in Samuel Shaw's hand. Costs for Knox during the war. It is noted that all accounts are kept "in Currency of 7/6 to the Dollar." Most of it is for sundries, clothing, loans to various people, and room and board. Some interesting items include: a purchase of a saddle by Benjamin Lincoln from Knox on 1 July 1777, a notation that "Lt. Col. Hamilton R'd C. to the Commander in Chief" on 3 August 1777, a note that Lucy Knox was given $500 on 20 November 1777, and a note on the expenses of Lucy Knox's travels from Fredericksburgh, New York to Booneton [Boonton], New Jersey.

Estimate for expenses from 27 or 28 April to 25 November, although there is no year provided. Hills was doing survey work with the War Department for a canal for in Massachusetts in 1793 and later did surveying work for Knox in Maine. It is unclear if Knox was paying Hill for either of these jobs though. Includes costs for Hills himself as well as 5 men who assisted him. Total expenses were $1,341, of which $391 is owed to Hills. Knox wants inquiries to be made if these expenses were properly noted and paid. Asks a series of questions about Hills as well.
