Shows roads, streams, and some troop positions. Drawn on a scale of 200 paces or 133-1/3 yards to an inch. The Battle of Seven Pines took place on 31 May 1862-1 June 1862. Blanchard served as Chief Quartermaster, 4th Corps. Mostly black & white, with some red ink. C.D. Blanchard was possibly Captain Claude D. Blanchard, an assistant quartermaster of volunteers who enlisted on 28 August 1861, served as lieutenant colonel quartermaster on 19 September to 12 Nov 1862, and was honorably discharged on 9 May 1863.

Also shows twenty one major inland and coastal harbors, mostly in the south (including New York, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Richmond, Cairo, Mobile, Key West, and others). Hand colored.

Title: [Manuscript Civil War map of the Battle of Williamsburg]

Shows the troop positions of forces under Union generals Philip Kearney and Joseph Hooker, as well as the Confederate line. Also shows the open field where the combatants met, Fort Magruder, and other structures. Smith is identified on the docket as "Bvt. Col. Henry W. Smith." He joined the 66th Pennsylvania Volunteers in March 1862. The Battle of Williamsburg took place on 5 May 1862. Major Henry W. Smith (1836-1869) gained notoriety in 1865 for helping to capture Lewis Payne and Mrs. Surratt, who were tried and hanged for involvement in the Lincoln assassination.

A manuscript note on the bottom by a quartermaster sergeant tells the recipient of this map that they can use it to track his movements, which will take him from Richmond to Fort Monroe and are marked, in part, in pen on the lower right hand side of the map.

This document is a map of Charleston Harbor depicting the major waterways and various forts in the area, among these is Fort Sumter. On the map it states that the map has been, "Copied by direction of Rear Admiral J. A. Dahlgren." The water on the map has been hand-colored in light blue ink. Signed "[Charles V. Bartelle], Asst. U.S. Comm. Survey." A note, "from the best information," is handwritten underneath the title (apparently not in Bartelle's hand).

The Tennessee River appears prominently, colored with a light blue paint wash. The map is painted and drawn on a coated, fine weave "architect's" linen. Noted as "Official" by Captain "W. L. B. Jenney," an engineer in the 15th Army Corps, on 16 October 1863. Jenney was then on the staff of General William T. Sherman.

Shows defenses between Secessionville and Fort Pringle, and down towards Forts Mahan and Delafield on Folly Island. James Island also appears. Shows the obstacles facing the Union's approach to Charleston, South Carolina in early 1865, including Confederate forts, bridges, encampments, and towns burned in January 1865. Charleston fell on 18 February 1865. This map was to accompany the 32nd U.S. Colored Troops attack on James Island on 10 February 1865 (See GLC06379). Aveleen was a Corporal in the 54th New York Volunteers.

Illustrates the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers, a cottonwood forest, the Vicksburg and Texas Railroad line (destroyed), Haines' Bluff, a bridge built by General Willian T. Sherman's troops, the site of General John Alexander McClernand's headquarters, and the location of Vicksburg's court house, among other features.
