W. H. Powell writes a telegram to Captain James L. Botsford of the 23rd Ohio asking if he should take a force of 250 from his regiment and 250 from another regiment and move on the Confederates in the morning. States, "I want revenge in some way for late injuries." With autograph endorsement signed of Brigadier General Eliakim P. Scammon stating that Powell should ready his regiment to move but tell his men to keep this a secret. On stationary of the U.S. Military Telegraph.
