Says the troops have been ordered against plundering in Savannah, but that it continues. Says he knows little of what goes on at home because he has not been there very often the past 4 years. Reports that the 10 bales of cotton on the sloop he was previously searching for have made it past the blockade. Praises Sherman as "the general of the war." Has heard of the defeat at Wilmington.
