Writes to his wife, noting that he received her letter a few days ago, and apologizes for being too lazy to answer it until now. He includes trinkets for the children in the letter, and tells her that "I should like to send you all a kiss if I could so you must do the kising for me..." He asks her not to blame him for using some of his money, and explains in detail what rations he is using the money for, and why he needs them.
