Title: One More Rally! Ward 6 in Advance!

Printed by Stevenson & Nichols at Nos. 22 & 24 Healey's Arcade. Broadside announces a meeting scheduled at "Volunteer Hall" to hear the report of the Committee on organizing the Mutual Draft-Preventing Association. This was a pro-quota meeting to avoid a draft by getting volunteers. Says the business must be completed in 3 days and that those "who have not paid their Assessments be sure to come Prepared To Pay, and have this thing finished up." Had previously been folded in half. Small hole toward the top and a small piece missing from right side at the fold line.

Title: to Hannah Bailey

A letter from Jacob Bailey to his wife Hannah Bailey. In his letter, Bailey details the Battle of Lake Champlain in Vermont and the capture of Captain Merrick and thirty-three soldiers from his company. He also writes about British soldiers defecting and gains made by the American forces. The Battle of Lake Champlain is also known as the Battle of Plattsburgh.

One letter addressed to Nancy Anderson from Ellis H. Garaudy dated August 26, 1969. Pertains to feeling homesick, Nancy's upcoming birthday, promotion to sergeant and news about the area where he is stationed. Refers to the Pleiku area as quiet and surrounded by communists. Garaudy remarks that the opposing forces outnumber them and tells her he saw the remains of three GI's in a plastic bag. Garaudy will be leaving on September 3, 1969 and returning to Phan Rang and then home. He tells Nancy he will be on leave from September 16, 1969 until October 15, 1969. One postcard to Alberta Hoover from Glenn Huggins dated September 26, 1918. Was sent to inform her that the ship Glenn was on arrived safely. It also lists his company as Co. D 342th Infantry. There is a note that says "Sailed the 8th of September" and was sent on September 26th. The post card was provided by the Red Cross. Another item by Glenn Huggins is GLC09599.

672 items, primarily letters from and to Leonard Eugene Graeff. Many of the letters are between him and his parents Raymond James Graeff and Susan Prowell Graeff. The items date from 1937 to 1963 with the bulk of the material from 1942-1945. The letters contain day to day details of Leonards life and time in the service and traning. He attended Great Lakes Training Center in Illinois and was stationed in Hawaii after training. Most of the letters disscuss news from home.
