A lengthy letter of resignation from Ulmer to Knox. Ulmer mentions he was mortified to see Knox returned the letters and certificates Ulmer sent him. States, "it is an evidence that your confidence in me is in a Great measure withdrawn I of course can be no longer serviceable to your interest." Discusses a list of Knox's settlers he made a few years back and the reasons why there might be mistakes. Noted as a copy on the docket. Letter is not signed but appears to be in Knox's handwriting. Discusses the sum Joseph Jones and [Benjamin?] Bartlett received for the loss of their barns (the barns were burnt down by the settlers). Also mentions how he had hoped to see Ulmer before his departure from Boston, Massachusetts. A portion of the bottom right corner of the letter is missing causing minor text loss and the loss of Knox's signature.

Legal agreement for Knox to rent the farm of Henry Gurney for three years. A man named Oliver Pollock was the previous tenant. The farm was situated north of Chestnut Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets. The rent was 300 pounds of Pennsylvania currency per year. Knox is also responsible for the taxes. Document witnessed and signed by Thomas Biddle and Clement Biddle.

Also informs Knox of a possible Clause "that may affect you very materialy [sic] if adopted - it is to enact a Law to quiet the Setlers [sic] on land who have been in quiet possession thereof..."
