Simpson, Michael T., fl. 1827
Autograph letter signed
Title: to J. M. Haldeman
Relates the events of his visit to Jackson's farm in Tennessee. Describes Jackson as a "great American Cincinnatus," friendly, personable, and even-tempered. Says Jackson prefers a quiet life, "but will serve the people, if by them chosen." Calls Mrs. Jackson a "devout Christian" and "a lady in her manners," and praises her highly. Says that both are displeased by the insults they have taken during the campaign, but not angered.
