In closing, requests Knox to procure an order "for the Cloth & Arms & other necessary's for my Regt- dont forget I shall be ambitious to make as good an appearance in field..." McParlin sends news of himself and asks for more letters from his wife. Writes about life and work at the hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. Comments on religion, friends, and food. There is text loss where the year was written and elsewhere along the edges of the paper.

The New England Women's Auxiliary Association encourages women to assist in the efforts of the United States Sanitary Commission. Describing the organization, the Commission states, "It gives its aid whenever and wherever it is most needed ... following in the steps of the Government- as a woman may often in those of a man- alleviating where it cannot prevent; working in season and out of season, for humanity's and mercy's sake." Appeals to the women of New England to donate "money, clothes, socks, yarn, feather, or other available materials" for use by soldiers.

His wife just recovered from a painful illness that necessitated a six month confinement. Says he is weak and can only walk 50 yards before tiring after a three month illness. Undated, circa date inferred from other letters in the collection. Note in pencil in different hand says page 13 is the last, but it is missing here. Pages numbered 5-12 so beginning and end of letter are missing. After escaping to New Jersey, probably in October 1778, from a reference in another letter, they went back to pick up their fellow escapees who could not swim and paid their helpers with the canoe they stole. Written in Skenesborough or Skenesboro, which is now Whitehall, New York. Petition says Captain Sherwood of a Company of the Queens Royal Rangers, was sent off with a detachment in pursuit of rebels on 6 July 1777 and left his baggage in the care of a soldier that was eventually captured. He lost five pounds sterling with the luggage. Also, on 18 July 1777 he was sent with another detachment to stop the rebels from plundering cattle from local inhabitants and when he returned his trunk was broken up and most of his personal clothes stolen, to the amount of 15 pounds sterling. Consists of two letters. The first, sent 20 July 1785, is marked as a copy. In the letter, Killingley, Green, & Son congratulate William Knox on his restored health and his planned return to America. They express assurance that William will pay the money he owes. They inform William that they would like to supply him in the future if he chooses to keep hosiery among his other merchandise. The second letter, on verso, is written 28 January 1786. In this letter, the firm congratulates William on his safe arrival at Boston, and implores him to settle his account.

Writes to his family on Christmas evening. Letter is a lengthy description of the events of the past few days. Damuth's camp has crossed the river at Helena after burning their old camping ground. Describes the lengthy process of crossing the river with mules, wagons and all of the regiment's equipment. The men are divided into squads of twelve. All the men must throw away their excess belongings, so Damuth gives a black man one of his cotton shirts, "it was the last thing I had that ma made for me."
