Major Doughty encloses returns of the ordnance stores and troops under his command. Plans to wait for clothing to arrive before sending a party of soldiers to Springfield, Massachusetts. Writes, "I have the Happiness to inform you that the greatest good order has prevailed in the discharge of the Troops from this place-" Reports a theft of stores. Reports on other events at West Point, thanking Knox for his charge.

Copy of a letter Henry sent to his nephew Thomas Flucker instructing Flucker that he will meet Captain Talbot. Talbot will give Flucker money and clothing. Knox demands that Flucker return to Thomaston "immediately" if Flucker does not get on the Constitution. Flucker is not "to stay in Boston one day."

Writes that the firm would have complied with Knox's wishes relating to the settling of their debt "had it been Practicable & prudent." However, it would have been "ruinous" to do so because they do not know the original cost of all their goods, and for a variety of other reasons. Declares that Samuel Shaw carries with him "most all the Woolens, which are by far the most salable at this season of the year," and will also bring Knox a receipt which they would like him to sign in order to "prevent very Possible risk and Inconvenience on your part."

To uphold his part of the contract, Bailey has "to furnish the said negro girl Kitty with good holesome provisions & comfortable clothing & also to treat her with Humanity." Signed by Byrne and Bailey on first page. Contract dated 3 November 1829. On verso, signed by [H. White], an Austin official, and by George Robinson and Thomas H. Includes a note at the top of the page, in Shaw's hand, from Jonathan Pugh, Lieutenant of Invalids, which reads, "This is to certify that Mrs. Margaret Corbin (wife of John Corbin a soldier in the corps of Invalids) has not drawn any liquor with the ration allowed her since the 1st Jany 1782."
