Claims his uncle will not get him a new one until receiving permission from Lucy. Says he will be obliged if Lucy can send him his "surtuit" (possibly a surtout coat) when General Lincoln returns. Includes testimony of several witnesses regarding money, supposedly stolen by Peggy Martin. In her defense, Martin said she was invited to Peter Hubbard's for a beer, and while there a man asked her to sell him calico. For the calico, he paid her with the stolen note. Martin was acquitted.

Reports he's been plowing all day and expects to get the corn in next week. Letter continues the following day. States the oat crop is coming in fine.
