Turns out that they will be staying put. The 2nd and 3rd corps "had a sweet little fight" with the Confederates, but the 6th corps was not needed. Feels very lucky that he did not have to fight, for it was raining very hard and the mud was knee deep at some points. Sent another letter to father asking for the boots. Would be shocked if he could not find enough leather to make a pair of boots in the three months it has been since he first asked for them.
