Discusses having James Sever command one of the continent's ships. Comments on Sever's good character and experience commanding ships. Reports he (Jackson) will follow his duty regarding an embargo.

The second note, to Mr. Head, asks him to provide lumber to Mr. Wilson. The third, to Mr. Dunton, asks Dunton to provide Wilson with supplies. The last, apparently to Mr. Vose, provides a variety of instructions about a canal-building project.
