He invites Trumbull to see the new University of Virginia and review his drawings for the Rotunda. Furthermore, Forster discusses the lack of fresh water and chimney, finally proposes that the house be completed and the rent be abated, instead of his leaving for "the offer of 2 or 3 [other] houses."

The letter is signed by both Gilbert Livingston and William Paulding. Gilbert writes that he has just returned from "the Forts" where he examined the rivers at Montgomery and Constitution, and has found that the site at Constitution is preferable for settling a fort. Both Gilbert and William Paulding send Robert, Jr. instructions for making an iron chain from his iron works; and add that the Forts are in high spirits, but low on artillery.

The men write that a final division of the lands, creeks, etc. of Saratoga has been made, and they have found that they have no right to any part of the creek. They then ask Robert, Jr. to join them in building a mill on their lands that are to the south of the creek.
