Has heard nothing from Colonel Payton on the Loudoun County land for which Mercer was charged. Bingley's estate, who died in Morgan County on December 4, 1836. Attested by Aaron Will. Executed one month after Lincoln was admitted to the Illinois bar and two weeks before he became Stuart's partner.

Relates that his wife Lucy is in poor spirits as her mother [Hannah Waldo Flucker] died the previous December, and she now only has one sister left [Mrs. Hannah Urquhart]. Written in Charlestown, possibly in Massachusetts. Writes to inform Knox that he purchased of Zachariah & Bethiah Fowle a house, barn and land in 1756. He bought them from Thomas Flucker, Knox's father-in-law, to whom the property had been mortgaged. Some time later, he happened to encounter Mr. Flucker and was told that everything regarding the mortgage was arranged to Henley's satisfaction. After a "small journey" Hichborn will see "whether that oath cannot be taken at Philadelphia."
